Mutual funds

New cars, and

A title after my name

or

The lack of any and all of these

Does not change what I am.

I am

A person in my own right

With the accouterments and badges

     of society

Or without

Worthwhile or worthless

But me all the same.

Should these things accrue to me again

It will only be because they came

While I was working toward

Another goal.
